Corporal Andy Reid lost both his legs and his right arm after stepping on an IED plate whilst serving with the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment in Afghanistan in 2009.
He astounded people with his recovery, spending only 2 weeks in hospital before returning home.
A testament to his attitude in overcoming such adversity, he doesn't let the severity of his injuries stop him from going forward with a positive mindset. Andy has been skydiving and took part in a 10K Run. He won The Sun's Millie Award for Overcoming Adversity in 2010.
Andy is part owner of the cinema bar in St Helens and RED’s café in Rainford. Andy has also set up a charity with Stephen Cruse called AIM: Amputation; Inspiration; Motivation. By amputees for amputees, it aims to inspire and motivate them to make the most of their future; and offer assistance towards further education, employment, sports and hobbies.
