A new project to help businesses in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland prepare for emergencies will launch in February with a series of webinars, covering key risks like flooding, power outages and cyber attacks.
The ‘Risk Ready Businesses’ project, which is being led by the Local Resilience Forum (LRF), will give business access to free resources including three webinars to be held on the following dates:
1.
Cyber threats and information security – Tuesday 24 February, 6 – 7pm
2.
Utility disruption, infrastructure failure and flooding – Wednesday 4 March, 6 – 7pm
3.
Health disruption and pandemic preparedness – Thursday 12 March, 6 – 7pm
These webinars will support businesses to cope with incidents that cause disruption like loss of staff, premises, IT or suppliers.
Businesses will be able to:
• Identify and prepare for key risks
• Take the right action during an incident
• Know who to contact in an emergency
Businesses will also get tools and support to develop a bespoke Business Continuity Plan, making them more resilient to disruption and forming part of a wider community response before, during and after incidents.

“By creating a Business Continuity Plan, all businesses can put steps in place to prepare for the unexpected which will help them to respond faster and recover more quickly. It will also allow businesses to support each other and their wider communities in an emergency, helping us all to build a more resilient society.”
