On 7 July 2022 Solent LEP are hosting The Solent People and Skills conference at the Fareham Innovation Centre Lee on Solent. The conference will bring together business leaders focusing on people, skills, and employability within the Solent region.
In conjunction with national Manufacturing Day, the event, which is open to all business sectors, will feature high profile speakers alongside panel discussions. Topics will include the Solent skills shortages; the people supply chain and the effects of social mobility that are impacting productivity in the Solent area.
The event will see guest speakers from Solent LEP, Make UK, The Chamber of Commerce, and NetZero Training, talking about their challenges and opportunities. The panel discussions will be led by sector leads from marine, tourism, creatives, health and social care and construction industries.
Speakers include:
- Helen Ives - Executive Director of Workforce, Solent NHS Trust
- Glenn Turnball, Operations Capability Manager at BAE Systems
- James Gayle, founder of Shogun Social
- Anita Bower, People and Culture Director, Iconic Luxury Hotels
Attendees will also hear from a degree-level apprentice about why they chose that career path.
There is also be opportunities to visit `The marketplace' to see some of the provision already available to help local businesses.
