This briefing will be themed on #ConnectedAndSmart with presentations from our key logistics partners including: C2C, First and CityFibre/Vodafone who will be presenting their plans for Southend to support the Southend 2050 ambitions. These partners impact on businesses, residents and visitors and therefore the prosperity of the Borough, so it is important we understand their future plans and how we can all work together.
Ali Griffin, Chief Executive, and John Williams, Executive Director of Southend on Sea Borough Council will be presenting on Southend 2050 progress with particular reference to the #Connected&Smart agenda , with supporting presentations from Council Officers.
Events usually attract approx. 100 - 130 business representatives so, in addition to the keynote speakers, they are lively occasions with plenty of opportunity for networking with local business professionals as well as fact finding in our marketplace.
The Marketplace will include experts on grants, from the BEST Growth Team as well as business support; there will be representatives from most of the major banks who can discuss their services and finance options; Council's Business Rates Team who can help with what reliefs are available currently and they are also able to help with advice relating to specific properties and the rates due which can be important for businesses prior to purchase/lease; Regulatory Services will be available and can support on the requirements on businesses to ensure compliance; Forward Motion can provide business support to improve travel to work options saving both you and your employees money; the nearly formed Plasticity team will be providing information and support to businesses on how they can improve recycling and remove waste from businesses in a more sustainable manner which is an area of major importance to all of us; CityFibre/Vodafone will be attending to talk about their new service which will connect every home in the borough to full fibre gigabit broadband; there will also be information about business meeting space to rent; business services available; the new Airport Business Park and much, much more, so it is well worth a visit.
