Reducing the carbon footprint of your business will also reduce your costs
As you probably know, the UK Government has set a target to reach Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050 and in fact has passed a law to this effect. We all have to play our part in reducing the world's harmful CO2 emissions to help address the Climate Crisis, at home and at work. The good news is that by reducing our waste, our emissions and the amount of energy we use, we will also reduce the costs in our businesses and improve the bottom line.
In this, the first of five sessions we’re offering, we will introduce you to the concept of Zero Carbon and the changes you might make to help you start to achieve this.
The first session will be led by Anna Bright, Chief Executive at Sustainability West Midlands. Anna has over 20 years' experience working in sustainability and has recently been working with businesses and other stakeholders in the LLEP to understand the low carbon sector and future opportunities. Anna will show how your business can link to national and local policies, creating opportunities for you. She’ll also showcase the low carbon sector in Leicestershire so you can see what’s available to help you make the change. Finally, she’ll share some of the simple things you can do straight away to reduce emissions and reduce your costs.
Our guest speakers are:
Kevin Routledge, Chairman of Leicester Riders, who has explored a number of green alternatives including renewable energy and electric vehicles and examined how event venues can reduce their bills by becoming greener
Mark Frankham, Managing Director of the Summit Group, will share how going greener has enabled his engineering company to create a competitive edge and win new contracts with larger clients
Paul Watson, Head of the Property Office at Loughborough University, will talk about the support available from the university for SMEs working towards reducing carbon emissions.
We promise a lively and engaging session, providing practical and useful information for your business and introducing you to the business opportunities and support that are available to you when you choose to make your business more sustainable. Book now and, if you feel inspired, come and find out more at our other Zero Carbon events.
This webinar is delivered by the Business Gateway Growth Hub and is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Places are limited and priority will be given to trading SMEs based in Leicester and Leicestershire.
