Southend on Sea Borough Council would like to invite you to attend a meeting to discuss the Draft 2020 - 21 Southend on Sea Borough Council Budget. This Consultation will take place on Thursday 16th January at the Park Inn Southend. This is an opportunity for the Business and Voluntary Sector to hear the key details of the draft budget and how it meets the Southend 2050 outcomes, they will have the opportunity to discuss the Budget with key members of the Council prior to it going through the cabinet process for discussion and approval.
Attendees will find out more about the budget proposals and what they will mean to their organisations and sectors.
The Consultation will start at 9am with presentations from Joe Chesterton, Strategic Director Finance and Resources and Cllr Ron Woodley, Deputy Leader and Cllr Ian Gilbert, Leader of the Council. The presentations will be followed by a Question and Answer session for attendees to pose their questions with the panel.
The Council is keen to engage with the wider business community and to create the conditions for growth , with this in mind there will be a market place and networking opportunity prior to the briefing which will run from 8am - 9am. Representatives from a range of council departments will be on hand to answer any questions you may have eg: Procurement, Regulatory Services, Trading Standards, Plasticity which is working to achieve a plastic free Borough,Public health, Dementia friendly team, Energy team which is working to achieve a net carbon zero borough in partnership with businesses and residents. The BEST Business Growth Hub will also be available to talk to businesses about the wide range of business grants and free business advice available to small and medium businesses in the area.
In addition, Southend on Sea Borough has a number of significant regeneration projects including the Airport Business Park, Digital Southend and Better Queensway which are transformational in terms of the regeneration impact they will have on the Borough. There will also be representatives from these projects available to discuss with you the impact of these projects on your organisation.
Registration starts at 8am followed by the Southend marketplace from 8am to 9am. The briefing begins at 9am.
